C. G. Jung emphasized the deep link to the physical world that exists for the collective unconscious and its archetypes. Our dreams and symbols, as well as the patterns of our behavior, are shaped by the fact that we are creatures of a material universe. Michael Conforti's research has been directed to understanding the nature of these links and patterns in the light of the new sciences-quantum theory, chaos theory, self-organization, and the new biology.
